Dominicanish

In May 2019, I was invited to participate as a panellist in the discussion Genre: Todo Depende at the Dominican Writers Conference 2019 DOMINICANISH at the New York City College. In this conversation, hosted by award-winning writer JP Infante, we discussed what genre actually means when writing and marketing our work, on the struggle for many emerging writers and creatives of all disciplines in the ability to discern between genres. In this panel, we attempted to help writers understand the experience of being a practising writer within particular genres and the prejudice some genres or mediums experience. We also touched on how does the platform our writing is on (self-published book, literary journal, social media, etc.) distorts and/or reinforces the genre we are writing?
